Why have a BirthMatters doula?
Through lived experience and rigorous training, our doulas understand firsthand that becoming a parent can be many things: exciting, intimidating, lonely, joyful — sometimes all at once.
As the only accredited community-based doula program in the Southeast, BirthMatters wants to reshape the experience of expectant parents in Spartanburg and Gaffney by making one of life’s biggest transitions a smoother and healthier experience for all.

Yes, of course! If you’d like your doula with you during delivery, she will arrive when you are in active labor and stay with you until your baby is born. And, good news: Your doula is separate from the “support people” that the hospital permits to have in the room with you. That means you can still have two visitors in the delivery room with you in addition to your doula.
